“Stop competing with others and start competing with yourself!”

YOU are on your OWN journey!

STOP looking at someone and saying “I wish I looked like ____”

Everyone is unique, everyone is different, everyone does not look the same for a reason!

Enjoy your fitness journey.  Learn to enjoy your uniqueness and what make you different from those around you.  Every workout does not create the same results for everyone…the same diet will not create the same results for everyone.  Yes you will get similar results but you will start to sculpt and create a different body type and you will start to strengthen different muscles.

Yes your progress may be slow so you will have to be patient.

Stay consistent with your workouts and eating healthy

Your hard work WILL start to show

Work hard…eat right…enjoy the results!

…WOD…

2013-01-15 19.33.35

You can try this move to add something extra to your work out routine!

What to do:

Get the treadmill started first! Start off with a LOW SPEED (like around 1.0 or 1.5)

As you do it more and get better at it you can increase the speed or even the incline of the treadmill

I did this exercise for a total of 20 minutes!

60 seconds on the treadmill and 30 seconds rest.

I alternated between the  60 seconds and 30 seconds until 20 minutes had passed

It increased my heart rate as well as worked my shoulders, back, and arms.

BE CAREFUL when doing this exercise!

Your hands are close to the rollers and you do not want to get them (or your clothing) caught in the machine.

Like I said before, start out slow and then you can increase the speed.

For your first time try to have someone near by just in case you need assistance!

…Guest Post: 5 Ways to Stay Motivated To Get In Shape…

5 Ways to Stay Motivated To Get In Shape

Aiming for a new body is a common goal for a lot of people, but like many other
endeavors, it’s easier said than done. While commitment to the cause is always
impressively solid at the beginning, few actually get through to the finish. The following
are suggestions on how to keep the fire going when trying to get into shape.

Bring a friend

The easiest way to help discipline oneself to stick to workout routines and schedules is
to have someone check on them. Make sure to invite someone who’s disciplined and
equally determined or else you might end up giving each other excuses. The goal is for
you to motivate and encourage each other. Since not all of us are lucky enough to have
that friend or family member, joining a class or team works too.

Know what you can and can’t do

Everyone has limits, especially in exercise. There’s nothing wrong with wanting that six-pack to materialize itself in a week, but we have to face the physical constraints lying between us and our goals. Keeping your workouts within your capacity lessens the likelihood that you’ll quit because of the impossibility of the exercise (and transitively, the goal of getting in shape). Be creative. Mix and mash the workouts that you can do.

Give yourself a deadline

Our teachers knew what they were doing. How much schoolwork would we have
finished if they didn’t give deadlines? Setting specific dates for certain goals adds to the
pressure of having to achieve them. The more detailed your goals are, the better. Think,
“be able to lift forty-pound weights in two weeks” rather than just “improve weightlifting”.

Track your progress

Keep records of how you’re doing. Nowadays this is especially easy to do because of
the dozens of free smart phone applications designed for this purpose. Improvement
isn’t always easy to feel, but writing it down keeps you assured that you’re going
somewhere. For additional motivation, reward yourself whenever you see progress
markers achieved.

Let brains improve with brawns

Getting in shape isn’t just about the body. It’s easier and faster to achieve that dream
figure when you use tried and tested methods. Hundreds of thousands of books and
websites contain information on dieting, exercising, conditioning, and bodybuilding. It
helps to join online forums and groups where you can share routines and tips.

Often, the biggest enemy in working towards getting fit is time. Desired results can take
months or years to manifest. Above all, it’s important to find enjoyment and fulfilment in
exercise because work turns into play when you’re having fun.

…The TRUTH about weight…

Can you guess the weight of these women?

They are different heights, different ethnicity, and all shaped differently.

But guess what…THEY ARE ALL THE SAME WEIGHT!

154 Pounds to be exact

Weight can look SO different on women of different shapes and sizes

Different people carry weight differently!

That is why you can NOT compare your success to others

When embarking on your own health and fitness journey you have to focus on YOU!

Comparing yourself to those women around you may not be very uplifting or beneficial to your weight loss goals.

Set a goal…work hard…and YES you will get there!

This is a great example of how different or the same we all can be!

Even more of a reason for you to work hard for YOUR goals and now one else!

Working out is 1/3 of the equation to reaching your goals

Your Diet/food & Liquid consumption is 2/3 of the equation!
