Gym Training Tips to Revolutionise Your Workout
Are you thinking about getting in shape anytime soon, or are you already on your way by working out? If so, good on you for making the first step to a healthier lifestyle. There are three small things that you can do in the comfort of your home that will improve your workout and gym training in a revolutionary way:
1. A healthier diet makes for a healthier body
Whether you are training to gain muscle, lose weight or just to get in better shape generally, the way to a better workout and a healthier body is to change to a healthier diet. Eat in smaller portions and try to eat more vegetables than you do now. Replacing your soft drink intake with sparkling water with a little bit of lemon juice will make you feel better, and try replacing any unhealthy snacks you eat with better options, such as yogurt with fruit or a cracker with hummus and vegetables (tomatoes or cucumber, perhaps). Cutting down on sugar and salt in your snacks and meals is great for you too, although having a little bit of sugar (sport drinks or candy bars) before a workout will give you a great boost!
2. Don’t work out every day or on the same body areas
For example, Men’s Health instructs you not to work your abdominal muscles every day, but only twice or thrice a week, and this goes for other things besides sit-ups. Whether you are focusing on running, squats, dips, swimming or something else, think about which parts of your body you are training and always take a rest day in between. This is the key to getting healthy instead of exhausting yourself. Even professional sportsmen and women follow this rule of thumb – after all, they wouldn’t be able to do any training at all if they injured themselves through over-exercise.
3. Avoid working out when you’re not 100 per cent
If you are suffering from any ailment, you should avoid working out – it won’t do you as much good as you think. And in cases where you might be suffering from something such as cystitis or inflammation – or even more serious ailments– it’s not advised. If however, you consult your doctor and they give you the go-ahead, that’s a different story. It’s always better to cure something before it gets worse, rather than ignoring the pain and getting on with your routine. Your health is the priority after all, so you need to take good care of yourself. Good luck with your journey to getting in better shape!
