…Grocery List…

Needing some advice on some great HEALTHY products you can pick up at the store to add to your healthy grocery list?

The best tips: Stay on the perimeter of the store!!

The perimeter of the store usually consist of the produce aisle (for your fruits and veggies), the dairy section (Cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products/non-dairy products), the meat market (for your fish, beef, and other meats), and even the frozen section (for frozen veggies, meats, and other items you can get frozen to allow them to last longer than the fresher options).

Sticking to the perimeter of the store is the best suggestion because this will not tempt you to get the more processed foods, or make you take a trip down the chip/soda isle.

Yes it is ok for you to go down the other isles, but the key is to create your list and grocery budget and stick with it.

Here are some great options for you to add to your grocery list

It is best if you can find these items on sale or even in the freezer section.  I will stock up on the frozen veggies when I see them on sale and the frozen options are sometimes better than the fresher options depending on which items are in season or not.

I love the spring/summer time because I get a majority of my produce at the farmers market for an amazing price.

The key is to do a little research and plan out your shopping trips so you can get what you need at the best price that will fit in your budget.

…Swallowing Problems…

There are so many eating disorders or eating disabilities (such as swallowing problems (Check out Dysphagia.org.uk for more info!) which can be caused by accidents or decreased health situations)  that MANY people suffer from on a daily basis.

These types of issues can inhibit someone from achieving the optimal healthy lifestyle.

These kinds of issues must be dealt with and handled with the help of a physician or professional!
If there is one thing i have learned over the years it is:

You can NOT help anyone who does not want to be helped!

If you have a friend of love one who is suffering from a disorder or disability, do not force them to seek help!

You have to show your support and suggest ways for them to get better.  THEY have to want to get better in order to fix any problems that they may have.

Just like with weight loss and reaching health and fitness goals…YOU have to want to make the change in order to start eating right and working out.  No one else can do it for you!

YOU (or your friend) have to want to make the change in order for the change to happen!

No one can change your lifestyle or your health but YOU!

The moral of this story is:

No matter what kind of friend you have

…a friend with a eating disorder or disability…

…a friend who wants to start living a healthier lifestyle…

YOU have to support them and HELP them!

Forcing them or demanding them to make a change or to do something about their life can make them more resilient and you could also possibly LOSE that friend!

So the best thing you can do for them is BE A FRIEND! Support them, walk with them day to day with their struggles, encourage them, and when the time is right you can help them in the ways that they need it.
