…Back Pain…

One of the most troublesome injuries!

Lower back pain is the most frequent pains that you can experience.  Back pain can be created from a lot of different things such as:

  • Muscle or ligament strain
  • Acquired conditions and diseases
  • Bulging or ruptured disks
  • Infections or Tumors
  • Arthritis
  • Skeletal irregularities
  • Osteoporosis
  • Obesity/ being overweight
  • Strenuous physical work
  • Strenuous physical exercise
  • Depression
  • A sedentary lifestyle
  • Being stressed

When you experience back pain it is SO important that you seek medical help to limit and eliminate the possibility of creating more future back complications.  There should be a variety of clinics in your area that can assist you with these issues if you start to develop back pain (such as Central Chiropractic Clinic).

When exercising it is normal to feel a slight discomfort and muscle fatigue.  BUT if you feel any sharp, dull, or long-lasting pains you should STOP immediately and seek medical attention.  Sometimes you can hurt yourself and if you continue to workout, that can cause your injury to get worse!

Ensuring that your core and back are strong are key factors to reaching your health and fitness goals.  There are many different things that you can do to help strengthen your back and core. You can engage in activities such as yoga or stretching before AND after your workouts.  Both of these activities will help you increase your flexibility, decrease the chance for back pain, and relive stress or tension that could have built up in your muscles .  You can also try to incorporate strength training and Pilates into your workout routine to also help you with these issues.

No pain or injury is good!  When embarking on your health and fitness journey you want to try to do what you can to limit your chances of getting an injury.  If you are at the gym and need help with strength training it is ALWAYS a good idea to ask the local trainer, employee, or fellow lifter for help if you will be lifting heavy.  If you are unsure how to do an exercise or just need help at all DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK!!! It would be better for you to bug a stranger than hurt yourself!!
