Sometimes, you want to get a full cardio workout but you don’t want to leave your own home. It may be that it is pouring with rain outside or you really don’t have the energy to go through all the effort of getting to and from the gym. That is why it helps to have some exercises that you can do from under your own roof. If you need a bit of inspiration, then this is the guide for you to give you a helping hand.

Mountain Climbers

For a great workout without the need for any equipment, mountain climbers are a good option. You start in a straight-arm plank position with your hands positioned directly below your shoulders. The aim is that your body should form a straight line from your neck to your ankles. If you have a full-length mirror in the house, it is a good idea to work out in front of this so you can check your form. You should then drive your right knee up to the center of your body followed by your left knee and continue repeating this action.

Burpees

An exercise that has become a firm favorite for fitness classes everywhere, burpees are certainly an exercise that you should try out yourself. Start by standing tall before bending your knees and swinging both arms back. Drive off the ground as high as you can, then bend your knees when you land and put your hands on the floor in front of you. Perform a pushup and jump back onto both feet before continuing with the same pattern.

Skipping

You may not have done any skipping since school but now is the time to dust off that old skipping rope and taking it up again! Skipping burns 10 calories a minute while also strengthening your legs, shoulders and arms. And you can vary up your workout style, focusing on one leg and then the other or both at the same time. When you start to get good, you can increase your speed for a higher intensity workout.

Home Gym Equipment

For many workout fanatics, having your own home gym is a dream come true. But even a single piece of equipment can make all the difference. If you are a running enthusiast, then a treadmill is the obvious choice for you. However, many people opt for an indoor training bike, in which case you can find quite a few tips here. Another option is a rowing machine which helps to build up your all-round strength as well as offering up that burst of cardio.

So, whether you choose to use equipment or you do everything on your own, there are plenty of options to complete a good cardio workout without leaving the comfort of your own home. Though you may not choose to do this all the time, it is great to have a variety of exercises that you can take part in.
